Tips for Buying Custom Stickers Online

Buying stickers online is an overwhelming experience. There are numerous products to choose from and the price varies based on several factors. Unlike working with a seasoned pro with our Premium B2B Sticker Pros, buying online is a do-it-yourself endeavor.

What are the top questions to answer before buying stickers?

To help you get started, we’ve compiled a list of questions to ask and helpful information to make it as easy as possible to buy custom stickers from Comgraphx!

  1. How will the stickers be used?
  2. What material is best?
  3. What cut style works best for the stickers?
  4. How big do the stickers need to be?
  5. What type of finish – gloss or matte?
  6. How many stickers do you need?
  7. Can you use the back of the stickers?
  8. What file format works best for stickers?

How Will the Stickers Be Used?

Custom stickers are used in all sorts of ways including branding and logo stickers, HVAC service stickers, and eye-catching holographic stickers. The answer to this question helps answer the next two questions as well – material and cut style.

If the stickers are used for normal advertising purposes, our die-cut stickers make an excellent choice. Or perhaps the stickers will be used as an authorized dealer window advertisement. In that case, our double-sided sticker is the right product.

Selecting the right sticker for the use is key!

What Material is best for my stickers?

Do you want a clear sticker? What about silver? Or how about holographic? We offer a wide range of stickers to choose from and we developed a complete guide to sticker materials to help you figure out what’s best!

Cut Styles for Stickers

There are 3 main cut styles for custom stickers.

Die Cut

Die cut stickers are cut to shape with a back slit on the back of the stickers for easy peeling off the paper backing sheet.

Kiss Cut Stickers and Sticker Sheets

The kiss cut style, also referred to as a sticker sheet, is a sticker that peels off a square or rectangular backing sheet. This design style is perfect for mailing in an envelope or passing out at trade shows. The backing paper allows for several designs on one big sheet!

What about the size of the stickers?

Always measure your prospective size before ordering! 4″x4″ doesn’t sound very large, but ends up being too big for most small objects like water bottles and laptops. However, 4″x4″ is perfect for car windows and refrigerators!

Common Sticker Sizes

  • Water bottles: 2″ – 3″
  • Laptops: 2.5″ – 3.5″
  • Refrigerators: 3″ – 4″
  • Car Windows: 3″ – 5″
  • HVAC Service Equipment: 4″ – 6″
  • Double-sided Signage: 8″ – 12″
  • Window Signage: 24″ – 48″

Finish Style – Matte or Glossy?

We love the look of a matte sticker if used as a branding sticker and intended for application on a water bottle or laptop. The low glare look allows the brand message to easy translate without distraction.

For clear stickers, shiny chrome, and holographic stickers a glossy finish is preferred. The gloss laminate helps the true effect of the material shine through!

How Many Stickers do You Need?

The first question to answer when deciding on quantity is how will the stickers be distributed. If the stickers are for tradeshow purposes, we generally recommend 5,000 stickers, especially if it’s a widely attended tradeshow.

Some customers choose to include a sticker in every package the sell to customers. Order volume drives the sticker purchase, with some customers ordering millions of stickers!

Other times the stickers are for a trial product and a sample of 15 stickers is the perfect solution!

Can you print on the back of stickers?

Of course! Our famous back printed stickers are one of our most popular products because the back of the stickers serves as free advertising space. From QR codes to social media information, the back is the perfect place for brand messaging!

What file format is best for Stickers?

Long story short, we will accept nearly any file format you send. We can redraw the image for a small fee if the original image isn’t up to par. The most common artwork files are Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. We can also work with pdf, SVG, and print-ready pdf’s.

For best results, we recommend using vector artwork when possible. Pictures print best when saved at 300 pixels per inch.
