What is the best way to apply a sticker?

There are several different ways to apply stickers based on the type of sticker or decal you’re trying to apply. The bigger the sticker, the more challenging it can be to apply. Small branding stickers can usually be applied with relative ease. Here’s our step-by-step guide.

Step 1 – Start with a clean surface.

We recommend using a mild soapy water to clean any dirt or grease from the window. This method is preferred over household window cleaners because the chemicals in the cleaner can have an adverse affect on the adhesive. Let the surface dry completely before applying the sticker.

Step 2 – Determine placement of the sticker

It’s important to make sure you know where you want the sticker to go before sticking it down. While you might be able to move it, this could lead to the adhesive not sticking as well long-term.

Step 3 – Carefully peel the backing paper off the sticker

Use the slit (if there is one) to remove part of the backing paper of the sticker. This will allow you to keep from touching the adhesive while applying the sticker.

Step 4 – Smooth out the sticker with a thick card (like a credit card)

One the sticker is properly applied, use a thick credit card like material to smooth out any air bubbles. This ensures all of the adhesive comes in good contact with the surface.

Keep in mind the outside temperature. Stickers apply best on surfaces between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
